Clinical inbasket work has created new avenues for patient care, but also has greatly increased workload and burnout in the current care paradigm. This panel will provide practical examples of how new technologies can be used to promote and optimize messaging-based patient care. New care processes are needed to adapt to this new channel for patient communication and care. We will further explore the ethics and the implementations of models in a variety of health systems, and demonstrate how messaging can help or hinder the patient care journey and relationship with the care team.
