LU11: Critiquing Scientific Studies as a Peer Reviewer
Presentation Type: Level Up Session
Description
Peer review is a cornerstone of the scientific process, ensuring that research is evaluated, strengthened, and advanced by the community itself. Scientists support each other and their scientific community by contributing as peer reviewers. Peer review is intended to help ensure that publications are rigorous, make important contributions to advance knowledge, avoid scientific misconduct, and are clear and coherent. In this session, we will discuss ways to develop critical analysis skills as a peer reviewer, and cover some scientific integrity cases in peer review. Attendees will gain practical strategies to become more effective reviewers and a clearer understanding of how their contributions uphold the quality and integrity of the scientific enterprise.
