Hidden Insights: Collecting and Analyzing Non-Traditional Multi-Modal Data to Support Clinical Research and Practice
Presentation Time: 01:00 PM - 04:00 PM
Abstract Keywords: Data Sharing, Nursing Informatics, Machine Learning, Data transformation/ETL, Controlled Terminologies, Ontologies, and Vocabularies, Natural Language Processing, Geospatial (GIS) Data/Analysis
Working Group: Nursing Informatics Working Group
Primary Track: Applications
Programmatic Theme: Clinical Research Informatics
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce participants to the availability, access, and analysis of non-traditional health-related data. Using a broader set of data has the potential to deliver more powerful health insights. We will review nurse-generated data, unstructured text data, patient-reported survey data, physical activity data, genetic data, and geospatial data for social drivers of health. Participants will learn about multi-modal data from statewide centralized repositories to publicly available datasets and be introduced to analysis techniques for gaining insights from these data by highlighting research and clinical implications. The workshop concludes with a crowdsourcing-style discussion where all participants can ask questions and contribute answers about data sources, computational resources, and learning activities related to multi-modal non-traditional data use.
