Programmatic Theme: Clinical Informatics
Women’s and reproductive health issues impact all people, irrespective of sex or gender. Historically, underfunding and inadequate support have limited scientific progress in women’s and reproductive health. A recent estimate found that only 2% of medical research funding is directed towards this domain even though one-third of females report gynecological health problems. According to a recent analysis by the NIH, just 8.8% of NIH grant spending was focused on women’s health research between 2013-2023, and the proportion designated for women’s health research has been decreasing over time (1). During this panel, attendees will learn about ground-breaking informatics-related women’s and reproductive health research efforts and areas for future investigation in this critical topic area.
