Presentation Type: Panel
Clinical Informatics and EHR Technology Solutions to Enhance the Care / Revenue Paradigm
Presentation Time: 01:45 PM - 03:15 PM
Abstract Keywords: Healthcare Economics/Cost of Care, Population Health, Informatics Implementation
Primary Track: Applications
Programmatic Theme: Clinical Informatics
Traditional fee-for-service patient care is not working in the best interest of patients. Healthcare organizations have been embracing new care / revenue paradigm focusing on value-based incentives. This transformation gives informaticians an opportunity to lead health systems on the journey of aligning clinical workflows and performance metrics. Value-based care (VBC) has been the basis for care pathway innovation and process optimization. Clinical informatics can create key end-to-end solutions to provide a clear revenue stream for health systems supporting VBC initiatives. By measuring outcomes that matter to patients, health systems, and payors, informaticians can facilitate solutions to consolidate data on a population segment level, and then draw insights to tailor and improve interventions across the care pathway for many similar patients. Through specific examples, this panel will explore how informaticians can augment the paradigm of quality patient care and financial stability of organizations.
