Now more than ever, the gender gap in biomedical and healthcare informatics needs to be addressed. The pandemic exposed challenges and lack of support for women in the workplace around work-life matters, with ripple effects on career advancement and women leadership. These challenges are superimposed on existing gender disparities around informatics scholarship, training, and leadership, and magnified among underrepresented women. The Women in American Medical Informatics Association (WIA) Awards and Leadership Subcommittee presents a panel of informatics leaders, with backgrounds ranging from academics to operations, to discuss approaches to success in leadership and pressing issues of gender diversity in biomedical and health informatics. This panel will serve as a complementary session to a collaborative workshop on mentorship being held by the WIA Networking/Mentoring and Lifecycle Subcommittee.
