Partnerships to Promote Public Health Informatics Capacity to Support the Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) in Public Health
Presentation Time: 03:30 PM - 05:00 PM
Abstract Keywords: Population Health, Informatics Implementation, Interoperability and Health Information Exchange, Biosurveillance, Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology
Working Group: Public Health Informatics Working Group
Primary Track: Applications
Programmatic Theme: Public Health Informatics
The Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) is a multi-billion and multi-year effort to modernize data and information infrastructure across the federal and state public health landscape in the US. The DMI comprises all levels of public health from the CDC at federal level and includes state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) health departments. Partnerships are integral to achieving the vision and deliverables of DMI and spans the spectrum from public health organizations, other federal agencies, academia, healthcare systems to private sector/vendors. The Joint Public Health Informatics Taskforce (JPHiT) membership spans the public health enterprise, with AMIA in an affiliate role. This panel includes experts offering various perspectives on partnerships related to DMI efforts (academia, state public health, vendor). Given that informatics is integral to DMI and given the broad membership of AMIA, the vital role of various partnerships in this important endeavor in public health will be of interest to symposium attendees.
