Pharmacoinformatics: Integrating Data Science and Artificial Intelligence into Drug Life Cycle
2025 Annual Symposium On Demand
Presentation Time: 08:00 AM - 09:15 AM
Abstract Keywords: Drug Discoveries, Repurposing, and Side-effect, Artificial Intelligence, Informatics Implementation, Data Modernization
Working Group: Pharmacoinformatics Working Group
Primary Track: Applications
Programmatic Theme: Clinical Research Informatics
Pharmacoinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that integrates pharmaceutical sciences (e.g., pharmacology), pharmacotherapeutics and translational science (e.g., pharmacogenomics), pharmaceutical outcomes (e.g., pharmacoepidemiology), and health informatics, data science, and artificial intelligence (AI). At its core, data science and AI are embedded across every stage of the drug life cycle—from discovery and development to preclinical and clinical research, real-world drug evaluation, and clinical pharmacy practice. Advancing pharmacoinformatics requires a collaborative, team-based ecosystem supported by a robust, shared infrastructure that brings together expertise in data, computing, and cross-disciplinary partnerships spanning academia, healthcare systems, and the pharmaceutical industry. This AMIA panel convenes leaders from academia, health systems, and industry to showcase a wide range of AI applications in drug discovery, clinical trial design, trial emulation, and post-marketing surveillance. By also highlighting educational initiatives, this session will underscore the essential role of pharmacoinformatics in driving innovation in drug development and advancing evidence-based evaluations.
