The Role of Persuasive Technology in Resilience Informatics

The emerging discipline of Resilience Informatics (RI) can be applied to the promotion, sustainment, and resilience of people and communities to damaging public health threats including disease outbreaks, extreme weather events, and forced displacement. Behavior change is a component of resilience development among people and communities. Persuasive Technology is concerned with the design of technologies that promote and support behavior change without coercion. In this panel, we will present the nexus of Resilience Informatics and Persuasive Technology and engage the audience in developing and expanding this discipline. Attendees of this panel will learn i) What is Resilience Informatics and its applications, (ii) What is Persuasive Technology, (iii) The role of Persuasive Technology in designing and developing Resilience informatics tools and systems.
