The Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard continues to evolve, driving advancements in healthcare interoperability and enabling new tools and capabilities for informatics. The number of FHIR specifications increases across eight distinct FHIR Accelerators, each with their own focus, project portfolio, and roadmap, in addition to hundreds of HL7 published FHIR Implementation Guides as well as and steady progress towards the next version of FHIR, R6. Moreso, health IT standards development communities continue to innovate, expand and develop new FHIR specifications.

Accordingly, this panel of authoritative global FHIR experts, authors and leaders will survey the recent and upcoming FHIR advancements emphasizing capabilities that are likely to become available in wide scale production use and therefore of use to the AMIA community.
