The 21st Century Cures Act mandates standardized, scalable, and effortless access to electronic health information through SMART/HL7 Bulk FHIR APIs [1]. Yet, early real-world implementations highlight significant performance gaps hindering practical utility [2]. This panel critically evaluates these issues from technical, operational, regulatory, and ecosystem perspectives. Panelists will discuss detailed performance benchmarks, share firsthand implementation experiences, propose regulatory solutions, and explore ecosystem activation strategies. The session equips attendees with actionable strategies for achieving the performance promise and interoperability vision of Bulk FHIR APIs.
