Presentation Type: Ignite-Style Talks
From Scratch: Cooking Up a Clinical Informatics Conference with Limited Resources to Showcase Applied Clinical Informatics Projects
Presentation Time: 09:15 AM - 09:25 AM
Abstract Keywords: Clinical informatics organizational models, Clinical Content and IT Project Governance, Interprofessional Collaboration
Primary Track: Leadership and Governance
Programmatic Theme: Organizational Challenges
Clinical informatics work occurs in disparate settings without an academic forum for presentation and discussion. The presentation will share our process and outcomes in creating a clinical informatics (CI) conference with limited resources. Keys to a successful clinical informatics conference included using available resources, flexibility in submission and presentation format(s), and personal invitations to both presenters and audience participants. The conference attracted plentiful submissions and a broad audience including health system leadership.

Documentation that is shorter, better and more profitable? Yes, you can.
2025 Clinical Informatics Conference Health Systems Presentation
2025 Clinical Informatics Conference 25x5 Presentation
Presentation Time: 09:25 AM - 09:35 AM
Abstract Keywords: Documentation Burden, Clinician Burnout, EHR Implementation and Optimization, Interprofessional Collaboration, Workflow Efficiency
Primary Track: Documentation Burden, Clinician Well-Being and Care Outcomes
Programmatic Theme: Usability, Efficiency, and User Experience
When thinking of changing documentation to improve revenue capture, improving quality and brevity are not typically what comes to mind. With the right expertise participating in the effort, however, using relatively standard documentation tools, it is possible to guide clinicians to write notes that not are not only more concise, but increase their level of service to get them the reimbursement credit they deserve.

Novel Application of Six Sigma Methodology in Clinical Informatics: Measuring Provider Performance in Alternative Payment Models
2025 Clinical Informatics Conference 25x5 Presentation
Presentation Time: 09:35 AM - 09:45 AM
Abstract Keywords: Workflow Efficiency, High Reliability Organizations (HRO)/Lean organizations, Alternative Payment Models (APM), Quality Measures and eCQMs / Quality Improvement
Primary Track: Documentation Burden, Clinician Well-Being and Care Outcomes
Programmatic Theme: Informatics-Driven Value-Based Healthcare
This Ignite-style presentation will explore a novel application of Six Sigma tools to measure provider performance in alternative payment models. By leveraging a standardized composite metric across quality domains, we propose a streamlined approach that reduces measurement burden and better aligns with efforts being led by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This data-informed method offers a practical solution to simplify quality measurement and favorably augment efficiency and outcomes.

Novel Solutions to Understand and Optimize Clinical Teaming Behavior
2025 Clinical Informatics Conference Health Systems Presentation
2025 Clinical Informatics Conference 25x5 Presentation
Presentation Time: 09:45 AM - 09:55 AM
Abstract Keywords: Learning Health System, Usability and Measuring User Experience, EHR Implementation and Optimization
Primary Track: Documentation Burden, Clinician Well-Being and Care Outcomes
Programmatic Theme: Organizational Challenges
The highest quality, safest healthcare is delivered by high-performing teams. However, what constitutes optimal teaming behavior in healthcare settings is poorly understood. Electronic health record (EHR) metadata are a novel information source with enormous promise for studying and evaluating team structures and processes. We introduce our flexible, scalable data model for analyzing clinical teamwork and explore several applications of metadata to address pressing questions about how teams work best in the modern clinical environment.
