Health systems across the U.S. are facing significant financial pressure, with over half operating on negative margins, according to a 2023 report from the American Hospital Association. Rising labor costs, declining reimbursements, and inefficiencies in revenue capture continue to challenge operational sustainability. At the same time, clinicians are experiencing record levels of burnout, driven in large part by documentation burden. A AMIA's 2024 trend found that 80% of physicians believe documentation tasks interfere with patient care, while the American Medical Association reports that nearly half of physicians report symptoms of burnout. Generative AI for clinical conversations has emerged as a promising strategy to address both financial and workforce challenges. When implemented effectively, AI-powered ambient documentation can reduce cognitive load, improve the accuracy and completeness of clinical notes, and ensure health systems are appropriately reimbursed for the care delivered. This session will feature a practical discussion on how health systems are implementing generative AI to support clinician wellbeing, optimize workflows, and improve revenue integrity.
